Get It Done
The Playbook for Leading with Grit, Integrity, and Desire
What needs to happen to lead when the stakes are highest and the scrutiny is severe?
In Get It Done, veteran coach Mark Gottfried peels back the layers on more than three decades of NCAA Division I college basketball to present a poignant truth: Leadership isn’t created in comfort. It ascends during our greatest challenges.
With a successful career of more than 400 victories as a head coach and twenty-two NCAA Tournament appearances, Coach Gottfried has achieved the upper reaches of his profession. He has experienced the vice that tests leaders many times. As an assistant coach at UCLA, he played a significant role in building a squad that earned a national title.
Those hard-earned truths are expressed here through riveting tales from the locker room and beyond. Coach Gottfried invites you to embrace his GID philosophy—Grit, Integrity, and Desire—a proven framework for leading yourself first, growing teams that believe in each other, and staying accountable when character is put to the test. Each chapter offers applied insights created to aid you in acting with calm and intention when pressure mounts.
Those lessons are timeless, not just on the basketball court but anywhere that leaders are needed to make a difference. Whether you’re at the helm of a company, coaching a team, or being a role model for your family, Get It Done will enhance what matters above all: your consistency, your courage, and your commitment to doing things in an effective way, even when nobody is watching the scoreboard. Especially when nobody is watching.
Because when all is said and done, victories aren't measured in plaques or trophies. They mean something because of who you become in the process. If you’re prepared to dig deeper, lead better, and finish stronger, now is when you can begin to get it done.
