Laura Froemling
Laura Froemling grew up in the country on a farm with her five brothers and three sisters.
After high school, she earned a degree in deaf and hard-of-hearing education at Illinois State University. Her degree prepared her to teach deaf and hard-of-hearing students at all grade levels from preschool through high school. After her first two years of teaching deaf students, Laura earned her elementary education certification, which qualified her to teach kindergarten through ninth grade.
Laura spent thirty-two years in the public school system working with hearing, deaf, and hard-of-hearing students at all grade levels from preschool through high school. During her years in education, Laura saw firsthand that the current school system does not work well for many students. The poor state of the school system ignited Laura’s passion to do something about it. Her motto became, “If not me, then who?” Her hope is that A New School System will bring about essential change to the school system.
Laura’s other passions include spending time with family, reading, morning walks with her husband, and gardening. Laura has been married to her husband, Bob, for forty-eight years. They have two sons, two daughters-in-law, two grandsons, and a granddaughter. Laura and Robert reside in Glen Carbon, Illinois, except for when they’re at their cabin in Superior National Forest outside of Ely, Minnesota.
