Shelby holds an MFA in creative writing with a certification in literary publishing from Chatham University, and a BA in English literature and creative writing from Kalamazoo College. She has nearly a decade of experience supporting authors across all stages of the publishing process, from early drafts to finished books. Her background includes editorial and marketing roles at Autumn House Press, as well as running her own business, where she worked with authors, publishers, and literary magazines to shape and launch their work. Her approach is rooted in a deep commitment to language, storytelling, and the life of a book. She is also a published poet whose work explores ecology, embodiment, and the natural world. She lives and homesteads with her family in Vermont.
